What You Are Dealing With, and What We Do About It

These are common examples, not the limits of the work. We start with the constraint in the business and determine whether the answer is strategy, process, people, data, software, AI, hardware or a combination.

“I am in every decision, because that is the only way I find out what is happening.”
We build live operating visibility — by stage, job, account, team and exception — so leadership can see what is happening without standing inside every process.
“We have grown, but the systems have not.”
We redesign workflow, data capture, communication, accountability and exception handling for the company you are now rather than the one you were when the process was first created.
“Every deal still runs through me.”
We improve the offer, pricing, pipeline, channels, sales process and fulfilment model, then build the revenue system your team needs to sell and deliver consistently.
“I do not know where the next dollar should go.”
We compare investments in people, equipment, technology, marketing, debt reduction and new capabilities against expected return, management attention and strategic value.
“We cannot hire our way out of this.”
We simplify the work first — using process redesign, automation, guided workflows and applied AI so the team can carry more valuable work without simply adding overhead.
“We built something good and cannot get in front of the right buyers.”
We improve positioning, routes to market and business development — including referral, partner, distributor, employer and enterprise channels where they make economic sense.
“We have too many systems, and none of them really work together.”
We map the operating stack, remove unnecessary tools, connect the systems that should remain and build purpose-specific software only where an existing product does not solve the problem well.
“We know AI could help, but we do not know where it is actually worth using.”
We identify high-value AI use cases across operations, sales, service, knowledge, reporting and administration, then compare off-the-shelf tools, integrations and custom builds before implementation.
“The team is busy, but I cannot tell what is actually improving.”
We create clearer operating rhythms, ownership, KPIs, dashboards and management routines so activity becomes measurable execution rather than a collection of disconnected tasks.
“A physical or operational problem exists, but the technology we need does not.”
Through Taylor Labs, we can move from problem definition into software, sensors, connected devices, prototypes, testing and practical R&D when the right solution is not already available.
“We want to enter a new market, but we do not want to build a large fixed-cost operation first.”
We design asset-light expansion strategies around market validation, partners, channels, local execution and the operating infrastructure required to enter carefully and scale with evidence.
“We are doing well, but the business still feels harder to run than it should.”
We look across growth, margin, operations, organization, technology and execution to identify the few changes that would materially improve how the company performs.

The point is not to fit your company into a predefined service. Taylor Partners starts with what is preventing the business from performing better, then assembles the right combination of advisory, implementation, software, AI, operational systems and R&D to solve it.

When the Market Does Not Solve the Problem, We Help Create the Answer.

Taylor Labs extends our advisory work into product development. We keep problem discovery, economics, solution architecture, project governance, testing and implementation close to the client, while bringing in specialist engineering where deeper capability is required.

That can mean a new AI workflow, a purpose-built practice platform, a retrofit sensor package, machine-health monitoring, a computer-vision station or a combined software-and-hardware system.

Two Ways to Work with Us

The same method, delivered two ways. Which one fits depends on the size of the business and whether you want it done with you or want to run it yourself.

Work with us

Consulting Engagements

Privately held companies, roughly $5M to $75M

We run the diagnosis ourselves, build what it identifies, open the channels it lets you sell through, and stay in the business through implementation. Four engagements, from a standalone diagnostic to a full operating-partner retainer.

  • We do the work with you, not for you to action later
  • Direct founder involvement, not an associate
  • Priced per engagement, quoted on the first call

Run it yourself

Truescale

Owner-led businesses, roughly $500K to $20M

The same diagnostic method as software. It assesses the business across every function, ranks what to do first against your own economics, advises where AI and automation are actually worth it, and carries recommendations through to tracked projects.

  • You run it, at your own pace
  • Continuous rather than a once-a-year review
  • Escalates into an engagement if a problem outgrows it

Between roughly $5M and $20M either one can work. The question is capacity: if you have someone internal with the time and authority to execute, Truescale will take you a long way. If the constraint is capacity — nobody free to own the change — that is what an engagement is for. Ask us on a call and we will tell you which, including when the answer is the cheaper one.

Why We Stay Through the Build

Owners rarely lack a plan. Most have had one written for them, sometimes more than once. What they lack is anyone who stays past the recommendation.

Plans can stall after delivery when the people expected to implement them are already at capacity, no one owns sequencing, or adoption has no continuing support. The engagement should make execution responsibility and follow-through explicit.

Our engagements are designed backwards from that. The diagnostic is short because it is not the product. The build is the product. The retainer exists because a system that nobody maintains decays back to the old way inside a year.

We work like owners, not advisors: we prioritise by return, feasibility, management effort and what it does to the value of the company.

How an Engagement Runs

  1. Diagnose

    3–6 weeks

Owner, management, employee, customer and vendor interviews against the company's own economics. Output is a prioritised constraint and opportunity roadmap, not a summary of what you told us.

  2. Build

    2–4 months

The first high-priority initiatives get executed, not scheduled. Operating workflows, revenue systems, AI tooling or custom internal software — whatever the diagnostic identified as the binding constraint.

  3. Connect

From week 8, running alongside the build

We open the relationships the new system can now serve. Partners, distributors, employer channels, enterprise accounts. We make the introductions and sit in the meetings — we do not hand you a target list and wish you luck.

  4. Compound

    Ongoing, six-month minimum

Quarterly value creation across growth, margin, operations, AI and organisation. This is where the work stops being a project and starts being the way the company runs.

We Are in the Market This Quarter, Not Last Decade

Most advisory firms are staffed by people who used to operate. We are founding, building and selling companies right now.

Alongside the client work, we run our own ventures. We write the outbound sequences and watch them fail. We set the pricing and find out it was wrong. We take the discovery calls, lose the deals, and rewrite the offer.

That is happening this month across mortgage distribution, relocation technology, household wealth development and global mobility intelligence — four different buyers, four different sales motions, all of them live.

It matters for one reason. Every recommendation we make to you is one we are currently testing with our own money and our own reputation, against real buyers who can say no.

An advisor who has not sold anything in five years is working from memory. Markets move faster than that now, and the parts that moved most are exactly the parts owners need help with.

Evidence

One client engagement, our own operating business, and the ventures we built or evaluated. We label which is which, because the distinction matters.

Mission35 Mortgages

Built a custom in-house AI intake that has clients arrive already knowing what they want to discuss, and hands the broker a prepared conversation instead of a cold one.

Not a chatbot bolted onto a contact form. The system helps a client organise a decision they make once or twice in a lifetime, then gives the broker the context before the first call. Alongside it, agents were repositioned from brokers to mortgage strategists, so the conversation starts with the client’s wealth position rather than the rate sheet.

Client-reported   Weekly lead volume also rose over the same period, on the owner’s direct observation. We have not reviewed source reports, and that figure is being measured to a full twelve months before we treat it as evidence.

Taylor Moving & Storage / Taylor International

A quality control system behind 40% of the industry’s top-rated awards, and a self-pack revenue line that lowers the customer’s price without lowering the margin.

Most movers win price-sensitive work by discounting, which buys volume with profit. Software-guided self-packing moves the labour to the customer instead of moving the margin to them, so a cheaper tier earns the same margin percentage as full service — and catches moves that would otherwise have gone to a cheaper competitor or a rental truck.

Management-reported   Award share is management-reported; names, issuing bodies and years are being confirmed for publication. The self-pack line is built and in rollout, with its margin effect modelled on current pricing rather than measured across a full season.

Who This Fits

A Good Fit

  • Privately held companies, roughly $5M to $75M in revenue
  • Founder-run, family-owned, professionally managed or investor-backed
  • Growth has exposed an operating or management constraint
  • Sales, delivery and reporting have drifted into separate systems
  • The owner is still in too many decisions to leave for a month
  • Succession, sale or reduced owner dependency is on the horizon

Not a Fit

  • Pre-revenue or very early-stage companies
  • Distressed turnarounds and insolvency situations
  • Anyone who wants a deck rather than a change
  • Buyers looking for the cheapest available option

What matters is not who founded the company. It is that one person is accountable for the whole business rather than a function — an owner, a second-generation successor, a president, a portfolio-company chief executive, or a general manager carrying a full profit and loss. That person can commit to a change, and they personally carry the cost of the constraint. Where accountability is split across a committee, this work is harder and slower, and we will say so before you hire us.

Smaller than that, and an engagement is usually the wrong instrument rather than the wrong idea. We are building a self-serve platform carrying the same diagnostic method for owner-led businesses in the $500K to $20M range. See what it does.

Common Questions

What Does an Operating Partner Do That a Consultant Does Not?

A consultant delivers a recommendation and leaves. An operating partner stays through the build and the adoption period, and is measured on whether the change is still running six months later. Our engagements include the system, not only the plan for it.

What Does an Engagement Cost?

It depends on the size of the business and what the diagnosis finds, so we quote it after a discovery call rather than publishing a range wide enough to be meaningless. You get a real number on that first call, not three meetings later. Scope and duration for each engagement are on the engagements page.

Do We Have to Be Owner-Operated?

No. Founder-run, family-owned, professionally managed and investor-backed companies all qualify. The condition that matters is that one person is accountable for the whole business rather than a function — an owner, a successor, a president, a portfolio-company chief executive, or a general manager with a full profit and loss. That is who can commit to a change and who carries the cost of not making it.

What Industries Do You Work In?

Any industry where the founder is still the bottleneck. We have worked in relocation and logistics, mortgage and financial services, industrial equipment manufacturing, and global mobility. The pattern we solve for is a company shape rather than a sector: owner-led, growing, and running on systems designed for a smaller version of the business.

Can We Hire You for Strategy Only?

Yes, through the Strategy Partner engagement. We prefer to stay in the build, because that is where most engagements fail. But if you already have a capable operations lead with the capacity to execute, advice-only is a legitimate structure and we will not pretend otherwise.

Do You Build Software, or Recommend It?

Both, in that order. We determine what the redesigned business actually needs before selecting or building anything. When custom software is the right answer we build it. When an existing platform is the right answer we say so, and we hold no reseller relationships that would bias the recommendation.

How Long Before We See a Result?

The diagnostic delivers a prioritised roadmap within three to six weeks. The first build typically begins within two weeks of that and produces a working system inside 90 days. Compounding results come from the retainer, which is where most of the value accumulates.
